Absolutely one of my top favourites. Always heard before seen. The cree-cree call of these birds is both joyful and sad. Their slow buoyant flight takes me to a prehistoric place where the wild things roamed. I always count the day special when they pass by. Recently a flock landed in the garden and we spent a happy half hour watching a pair canoodling. The male is on the left (red tail panels) and the female is on the right (speckling and yellow-barred tail panels).
