These are uncommon, very large cuckoos (57-70cm) which are difficult to miss, especially due to their distinctive 'hoink-hoink' call. They are a wet season migrant arriving here to breed in the Top End  from about November, leaving again around March to May. Really unusual bird with plenty of character.
